
The
Wynne Unit prison in Hunstville, Texas was founded in 1883 and houses 2600 inmates. Located on 1,412 Acres, it is home to many agricultural programs, such as field crops, egg laying operations, peach orchards, horse breeding and more. The unit also has a mattress factory, license plate plant, sticker plant and freight terminal among other industries.
David Crosby of Crosby, Stills & Nash served time for drugs and weapons charges at
Wynne Unit and worked in the prison's mattress factory.
Last summer 440 inmates got sick with Norovirus and visitation was canceled.
